We're off (almost) and running (almost)

Here we are - Tuesday evening, about 9:15 p.m.  Still packing the bags to the hilt.  They say we can have 50 pounds in each checked in bag and 40 pounds in one carryon - so that's what we're taking!  140 pounds each!  Plus - we packed two other bags to the max to have two other members of our team take them.

So what's in the bags???  Oh, just stuff like: nutritional items for the children, pillow case dresses, 300 hankies for the widows, 14 or so bug zappers (look like small tennis rackets), batteries, Costco size beef jerky bags, balloons, cameras, clothing to give away, shoes to give away, scarves for the widows, gifts for the pastor's wives, gum and tootsie rolls, bandaids, and, and, and .... well, you get the idea.  Wonderful things to show off the Father's love for His kids!

We are looking forward to blessing the widows and the hospital patients/families with a meal in Tororo.  We will also feed children in the Kasumi slums, in Kikyusa, and maybe even treat some kids in Lugazi with ice cream!  YUM!

We will do all of this AND bring the word of God to all who will listen.  The people of Uganda are very receptive to Jesus.  They love to be loved - don't we all?  We look forward to hearing the voice of Holy Spirit as we move out in His love.

As you think of us, please bless the work that God will do through this 2011 Say Yes Team Uganda.  If it weren't for Jesus none of this would be possible!  What a privilege it is to serve Him in all that we do.

Blessings,

Joy & Virgil
